Graduation FAQ

Commencing 28 January 2025, graduates have a maximum of 12 months from their conferral date to register for ceremony attendance. If you do not register within this 12-month period, you will no longer be eligible to attend a ceremony.

Please note the following:

  • There are no processing or application fees associated with opting not to attend a ceremony.
  • Graduates wishing not to attend their graduation ceremony, must submit their request via the registration portal.
  • Once this option has been selected and confirmed, it cannot be changed to attending the ceremony in person for the same award or qualification.
  • If you do not register and we do not hear from you within the 12-month period from the date of conferral, you will no longer be eligible to attend a ceremony by default.

Graduates will have access to all alumni services, including career services, alumni networks, and other benefits, regardless of whether they have attended the ceremony in person or opted not to attend.

The Graduation team is unable to assist with inquiries related to academic documents.

We recommend visiting the Academic Documents page on the Student Hub for further details, including how to request official documents. Alternatively, please contact the Student Services team.

It is standard procedure for our internal team to send academic documents to graduates before the ceremony. This ensures they have their documents without any delays, should they need them for a job or other purposes.

On your graduation day, you will be given a graduation folder on stage containing a congratulatory letter. You are welcome to bring your testamur for photo and framing opportunities after the ceremony.

The Graduation team is unable to assist you with inquiries related to the eligibility of your course completion. If you have any further questions regarding course completion or conferral dates, please refer to the Course Completion page. Alternatively, please contact the Student Services team.

If your conferral date has passed by more than 10 business days, please contact the Graduation team.

Additionally, please check your student email account, as your invitation might have landed in your spam/junk folder.

Two (2) guest tickets per graduate are included in the ceremony registration. Children between 0-3 years old are welcome to attend in addition to the allocated guest tickets.

We always endeavour to release additional tickets based on the venue’s seating capacity. If and when available, these additional guest tickets are always limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Only registered graduates are notified when additional tickets go on sale until allocation is exhausted, so please keep an eye on your inbox. Notifications regarding the sale of additional tickets are sent after the ceremony registration has closed. The cost is AUD $55.00 per additional guest.

Please note, no additional tickets will be sold on the day of the graduation ceremony.

You will be able to update your guest(s) name(s) using the registration link/portal up to 24 hours prior to the graduation ceremony.

Academic regalia refers to the formal attire worn during the Graduation Ceremony to receive your award. The robe is called a gown, and the hat is referred to as a mortarboard. The hood and stoles distinguish your faculty and degree. Graduates are not permitted to customise or add any items to the approved regalia. You will have the opportunity to capture the phonetic pronunciation of your name during the ceremony registration process. Every effort will be made by the name reader to ensure your request is adhered to; however, we cannot guarantee perfect enunciation and intonation.

Therefore, we encourage graduates to discuss any special requests or requirements for the pronunciation of their names with the graduation team in the lead-up to the ceremony. If a graduate does not specify any pronunciation requirements during the ceremony registration process, the name reader will pronounce the first and last names as they are understood.
