Orientation is a great opportunity to get to know our academic and campus teams, meet fellow students and find out more about your course and learning environment.

There will also be plenty of food, games and activities for you to try! Family and loved ones are welcome to join you to celebrate the beginning of your study journey with us.

International students must attend orientation as part of your visa requirements.

This mandatory orientation session covers all the key information that our new students need in order to succeed in their course at Torrens University.

It will also provide you with an opportunity to meet your fellow students, tour the campus and speak with our academic staff before classes begin on 5 June.

Short Course: Science For Success in the Health Professions

Friday 2 June | On-campus -  9am to 4pm local time | Online - 9am to 4pm Sydney time

This short course prepares you for success in our Health courses and for university level study.

The modules in this course cover basic topics in mathematics, chemistry, biology and physiology which will help you meet the “assumed knowledge” for your tertiary study in a broad range of fields.

These may include Health Science, Herbal Medicine, Nursing, Naturopathy, Chinese Medicine, Nutrition and more. Developing your knowledge and study skills in this program can help you build your confidence prior to commencing further studies or may be used for revision during your course of study.

What is covered?
  • The nature of Science for Health
  • Key concepts in Chemistry
  • Basic concepts in Biology
  • Maintaining life - the basics of Physiology

You will be guided by your learning facilitator, and will explore the resources provided to you on Blackboard, participate in class activities, and have opportunities to ask questions.

Who is this course for?

If you did not study science at HSC level, if you studied science but a long time ago and need a refresher course, or if you need to gain more confidence in this area, this program is for you.

Science for Success in the Health Professions is an excellent preparation that equips you with skills to successfully transition from high school to a diploma or degree.
