Changes to the assessment extension process for for Higher Education (HE)
A change to the Assessment Policy for Higher Education Coursework (HE) and ELICOS on 16 September 2024 means that you now need to follow an updated process to apply for extensions to assessments.
What's changed?

1 to 7 calendar days |
Extensions of 1 to 7 calendar days no longer need supporting documentation, but a detailed explanation must be provided. These will now be submitted via the "Briefs & Submissions" section on MyLearn. You should apply no less than three (3) calendar days before the assessment is due, unless unavoidable delays can be demonstrated. |
8 to 14 calendar days |
Extensions of 8 to 14 calendar days still require documentation and will now be submitted via the "Briefs & Submissions" section on MyLearn. You should apply no less than three (3) calendar days before the assessment is due, unless unavoidable delays can be demonstrated. |

Over 14 calendar days |
For extensions exceeding 14 calendar days, apply using the Assessment Special Consideration Form: Torrens University | Think Education Submit the completed form and supporting documents to your Learning Facilitator. This form may also be used for WIL placement deferral and other modified assessment arrangements. |
Note: For students not on MyLearn, submit your request to your Learning Facilitator(s) who will process it as appropriate.
