Exam week

Exam week is held in Week 12 of each trimester

Useful information

  • Exam timetables are released on the Student Hub between Week 6 - Week 8 (subject to change).
  • ID: you must bring your student ID card to all exams
  • Arrive early: arrive by the advertised registration time, so that everyone can sign in before the exam starts.
  • Go the right place: check your Subject Code/Name and attend the correct exam session and location.
  • Open book exams: your lecturer or Program Director can advise if your exam is open or closed book. It is your responsibility to bring any and all appropriate material to each exam.
  • Know what to expect: read the THINK or Torrens Exam and Assessment policies before your exam.

Supplementary assessments and exams

This section only applies to Higher Education courses

Supplementary assessments and exams give you the opportunity to receive a supplementary pass for a subject you failed if:

A) You attempted all assessments AND recorded a final mark between 45% and 49%

OR

B) You were granted special consideration

It is your responsibility to know if you are granted a supplementary exam or assessment and to be available during the secondary exam period.

Special consideration Application forms and policies

If you think you are eligible for special consideration you can apply to:

  • extend an assessment deadline,
  • submit a supplementary assessment,
  • re-sit an exam or resubmit an assessment,
  • sit an exam at a later date,or
  • make modified assessment arrangements

When do I need to submit the form?

Unless it is impossible to do so, the following deadlines apply:

  • Exams: If you can't sit an exam due to circumstances beyond your control you must apply within 2 working days of the scheduled exam.
  • Exams: If there is a clash in your exam timetable you must notify Student Services within 5 working days of the timetable release.
  • Assessment extensions: To extend a deadline you must apply at least 1 working day before the assessment due date

 

When are extensions and resubmissions due? When are deferred and re-sit exams held?

Usually within 10 working days from the date you are advised in writing that your application for special consideration was successful.

If you seek more than 10 working days your application will be referred to your Program Director for a decision.

Important to know

You must sit your exams at the scheduled date and time irrespective of any conflict with a planned holiday or special event.

If you can't sit an exam due to circumstances beyond your control you must submit an Application for Assessment Special Consideration Form. Please review the Special Consideration Application forms and policies section below.

How do I know if I am eligable to sit a supplementary exam?

You will receive an email to your student email account - so make sure your contact details are up to date.

You should check your results (in Blackboard) as soon as they are available.

Special consideration

If circumstances outside your control, such as illness or a death in the family, affect your performance you can apply for special consideration.
