Option 1: Internship (WIL302)
An internship is a unique opportunity for Work Integrated Learning (WIL), where you will develop and refine your knowledge and practical abilities, in a professional environment. You will begin to build long-term relationships, within the design industry and strengthen your skills in observation, evaluation, and self-assessment, all of which are valuable for a career in design. Throughout this process, you will undertake a series of tasks designed to support your understanding of the key concepts involved in the operation of a professional design practice. Students are responsible for securing their own internship.
Time frame
The internship consists of 90 hours of industry placement, in an approved, design-related position. This is flexible, with some students opting to complete a 3-week full-time placement, during the trimester break, or as one day a week, for a 12-week period undertaking, or some other agreed-upon configuration. The internship program provides students with a platform to launch their careers. Please think carefully about how to get the most from this experience.
- Prepare and start to look for internship opportunities 3-6 months prior to the start of the trimester
- Sign WIL agreement (found under Careers & Industry)
- Enrol in the correct Wil subject, there is no weekly class but students will be supported by Facilitators through out the internship program.
Note: Please students must keep the attached WIL Agreement PDF "unlocked" as the Industry Team need to complete the final verification and sign off before this document is finalised.

Option 2: Industry Live Brief (WIL302B)
This subject requires students to respond to criteria set within the context of an Industry Live Project (assigned by your lecturer within the classroom). An understanding of research methodologies appropriate to professional practice and the documentation of personal creative investigation will be explored.
Students will also further investigate and examine entrepreneurial and commercial opportunities through collaborative work practice. The subject is delivered from a cross discipline perspective and draws on both discipline specific and common design practices.
Students are required to work both independently or as part of a collaborative team in order to conduct research, analyse and define project parameters and deliver innovative solutions that expand the notion of an industry live brief.
