Student Hub: DCT Graduate Exhibition

What's it all about?

INTRO is a showcase of our design students’ work and their introduction to the wider design and creative industry -  It celebrates their successes and their achievements.

Throughout 2023 students have been introduced to industry through INTRO portfolio reviews and activations. This year's showcase will be released at billyblueintro.com on 14 December.

Submission guidelines

As part of your submission, you will need to upload a headshot and bio, project information and project images. More information can be found below.

Here is a practice form to complete offline as well.

You will need to include a short bio as part of your submission. This is your chance to share more about who you are and your professional ambitions.

Tips for writing a good bio:

  • Keep it brief
  • State your strengths and passions
  • If you’ve already done the Portfolio subject this is the perfect place to put your elevator pitch
  • Go the extra mile to stand out to industry and create a 1–2min video introducing yourself to industry
  • Upload this video to Vimeo or YouTube. You can include the link to it as part of the upload.

You will also need to include a headshot. This makes you seem like a real person rather than just another mystery internet entity.

Tips for a capturing a good headshot:

  • Make it a square image
  • Use a plain background
  • Get someone to take the photo for you (so you’re not too close to the camera)
  • Look professional (If you wouldn’t wear it to work it’s not the right outfit)
  • Look into the camera
  • Smile
  • Don’t touch your face
  • Your arms/body should only be cropped by the bottom of the frame (leave some clear space either side of you and above your head)

You will need to submit two (2) feature projects as part of your profile page of the INTRO website.

For each project you will need to upload one hero shot and three supporting images along with project details and an accompanying project description.

Selecting projects to showcase:

Project 1 (1 hero image and 3 supporting images)

For your first project choose a project that relates to the area you are most interested in pursuing at this stage in your career. By showing work relevant to your career ambitions, you will be more likely to entice the interest of people already working within this area of design.

Project 2 (1 hero image and 3 supporting images)

For your second project, we recommend choosing a project you’re proud of. Ensure there is something unique about this project or the process you went through to complete it.

Selecting images for this project:

  • Your hero shot will appear on the homepage of the website and at the top of your profile. Choose something that will entice people to look at your full profile.
  • Of the 3 supporting images and we suggest one should be process work to communicate your thinking/design process.
  • You can also upload a video URL for any showreel or animation work.
