Clinical Practicum allocations for T3

 If you are planning to enrol into a clinical practicum subjects/s, for nutrition or naturopathy, in trimester 3 please do so by Friday 13th September to assist us with the allocation process. In order to fit in high numbers of students to clinic sessions we have a step-wise procedure as follows:

  1. Enrol in your Clinical Practicum subject via your new Student Portal.
  2. Academic team will allocate you to a clinic session/s according to your subject enrolment (this includes consideration of concurrent subject timetable).
  3. Academic team will advise you of your allocated session/s via email.

If you cannot attend one or more of your allocated sessions, you can complete an Application for Timetable Change.

  • Your timetable change request must include supporting documentation in order to be considered for the re-allocation proposed.
  • Your request will be considered by the Clinic Coordinator or Program Director.
  • You will be advised of the outcome of your application via email.

 

Clinic Induction Session - Trimester 3, Save the Date!

Friday 13th September 9 AM - 12.30 PM

This event is compulsory for all students that are new to clinic practicum in Trimester 3, 2019 OR are returning to clinic practicum from an extended period of leave (12 + months)

Further details will be emailed to you  shortly if you are required to attend. Please note students enrolled in pre-clinical subjects are not required to attend, this event is for students who will be treating clients in the Think Wellbeing Centre for the first time in Trimester 3.

Course Updates: Health Science Courses 2020

Voluntary Course Transfer from THINK Education to Torrens University of Australia (TUA) Updated Course Structure

This is to inform you of an important course structure update in the Torrens University Diploma of Health Science (DHS) and Bachelor of Health Science (BHS) Courses.

The DHS and BHS courses now require students to complete 8 subjects per year instead of the previous 9 subject per year study pattern.

This update has been made to:

  • Align the course to the TUA required Equivalent Full Time Study Load (EFTSL) of 8 subjects per year
  • Improve graduate career outcomes as per feedback from the Course Advisory Committee
  • Comply with annual academic course improvement processes
  • Align the TUA courses to other Higher Education University Course Structures
  • Incorporate student feedback suggestions

How to select your subjects and register for classes

You can select your subjects each trimester using the "Register for Classes" tool in your new Student Portal. Instructions and user guides are available here.

Trimester 3, 2020 subject selection and enrolment

Subject selection opens on Monday 3 August for most courses.

You can enrol and register for classes in your Student Portal.


Q: I am enrolled to study on campus, but classes are currently being delivered online. What subjects do I need to select?

It's important that you select your subject as per your normal study mode, whether you are a domestic or international student. This means that:

  • If you are enrolled as an online student, you'll continue selecting your online classes
  • If you are enrolled as an on-campus student, you'll need to select your subjects as if you were still on-campus and attend those classes online at the allocated time

Please note that if you have selected on-campus subjects, you will be moved to on campus study as soon as face to face classes resume.

For the foreseeable future, we will continue to deliver all subjects online to ensure the safety of our staff and students while concerns about the spread of COVID19 remain.

Q: ​I am an international student, so I am only allowed to study one third of my course online. However, all of my classes are currently being delivered online, which means I will exceed this limit. Will this impact my student visa or my ability to graduate?

Due to COVID-19, authorities have provided assurance that exceptions are being made to the usual attendance requirements. This means that there is flexibility around the amount of study an international student is able to do online at present.

As long as students remain enrolled with their provider and the assessment requirements of the course allow it, authorities will be flexible on the location of the student, the mode of delivery, and accept that minimum face-to-face teaching requirements may not be met at this time.

When face to face classes resume, it is expected that some level of restriction to the amount of online study international students are allowed to undertake will be applied from the date classes resume.

Working with Children Check and First Aid

We require all students practicing in the Think Wellbeing Centre to have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and First Aid Certificate before they commence any clinic work.

Clinic students will be required to submit to Student Services a certified copy of their Working  With Children Card and First Aid Certificate before commencing the trimester. You may also provide the original and have it certified on-campus.
