Graduation Ceremony Information

Graduation ceremony dates for 2020:

We understand you want to plan ahead, so you do not miss this special day, however at the moment due to COVID-19 restrictions, all graduation ceremonies Australia wide for the second semester of 2020 remain postponed.

Further updates to all approved graduands whose graduation ceremonies were postponed will be sent by e-mail and SMS.

New dates of graduation ceremonies for 2021 will be published later in the year, in the meantime, you might want to consider the following options:

  • Request to graduate in absentia (Higher Education students only) please check 'Graduating in Absentia' tab.
  • Request to change your graduation ceremony to 2021. Graduation Ceremonies' exact dates for 2021 will be decided around December 2020/January 2021. Please check the 'Invitations' tab to use as a reference only the dates of our previous ceremonies.

To keep you updated on any important changes it is very important you verify your contact details, as the main reason students miss the graduation ceremony is due to outdated contact details in the system. Please check the 'Preparing to graduate' section on the right-hand side of this page.

Delivery of academic documents of Brisbane 2020 graduates:

To ensure that this postponement will not impact your position in applying for employment or other opportunities, higher education students will be graduating in absentia. We will send your academic documents to the mailing address we have in the system within 30 calendar days from the conferral date. Please note this only applies to students who have been identified and approved as graduands.

To be eligible to graduate, you will need to have successfully:

  • Provided all documents required for graduation, for example, your verified USI or placement completion documents (IF your award requires these documents).
  • Updated your personal contact information at the Student Portal, such as mailing address, personal e-mail address and mobile phone.

The next step in assessing your eligibility to graduate is academically assessing your work against the course requirements. If this assessment is successful you will proceed to graduation.

The assessment and approval process involves the review by the Examination Committee (VET/Vocational AND Higher Education students) and ratification by the Academic Board (Higher Education students only) prior to the conferral of the award to ensure that the student met all course requirements.
