Torrens University Australia and THINK Education holds four (4) annual Graduation ceremonies in different cities and times of the year so our students have the opportunity to join in the location of their convenience.

The next step in assessing your eligibility to graduate is academically assessing your work against the course requirements. If this assessment is successful you will proceed to graduation.
The assessment and approval process involves the review by the Examination Committee (VET/Vocational AND Higher Education students) and ratification by the Academic Board (Higher Education students only) prior to the conferral of the award to ensure that the student met all course requirements.

Once your course completion is approved, you will be invited to the graduation ceremony according to your residential address we have on file, more exactly, the state on your mailing address. For instance: If your mailing address state we have in the system is NSW, you will be invited to the Sydney Graduation Ceremony.

Vocational students – Once you have finished your final subjects, our Examination Committee will finalize your results and determine the successful completion of your course. If successful, they will sign off on your completion.
Your documents including Academic Transcript, Transcript of Results and Testamur will be posted to you within 30 days of approval.
Higher Education students – In order to receive your final documents, we need to ensure you have been through all of the appropriate approvals from our Examination Committee and Academic Board. Once these have been approved, your award will need to be conferred.
Due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, the awards of Higher Education students will be conferred at our Academic Board meetings. If you do not wish to wait until the next academic board closer to the graduation ceremony you have been allocated to, you can opt to graduate in Absentia. Your award will be conferred in your absence and it will be posted to you within 30 days of conferral.

Important note: The awards of higher education Sydney graduands will be conferred on 31st of March 2021. The Student Records and Progressions Team will be posting your graduation documentation 30 calendar days from the 1st of April 2021.

On your graduation day, you will receive a ‘Congratulations Graduation’ folder on stage in place of your testamur.

Attending the ceremony is optional but receiving your invitation and academic documents are dependent on your university fees being fully paid.

In the registration link, you will be able to pay your graduation fee.
No, the graduation fee is only paid if you confirm your attendance at the face to face ceremony that will be held at the ICC.
The graduation hats are only for graduands confirming attendance on the graduation day. We use a 3rd party provider who supplies these on the day.
Regarding your booklet, a digital version of the program will be made available to all graduates in the weeks following graduation where you will be able to download this. We will let you know how to do this in another communication after the Graduation Ceremony.
If you want to leave the venue, you will need to return your academic regalia first.
You had until Friday, 12th of March 2021 to submit your application to graduate in absentia. Please carefully read the information under the 'Graduating in Absentia' tab. If you did not submit your application, you will need to wait until the Brisbane graduation ceremony for your award to be conferred.

The graduation fee is $150 per student. This fee includes your place at the ceremony; hire of academic regalia; a trencher/graduation hat for you to keep; a program of the day and a digital photo of you on this special day.

Four (4) weeks before the graduation day you will receive an email to your personal email address you have registered in the Student Portal. This email will have a link to click on it to register your attendance and pay for your graduation fee.

The ceremony is approximately two (2) to two and a half (2.5) hours, however, please take into consideration that we will ask you to arrive earlier so you can get your academic regalia.
The exact time schedule of the day will be sent after the RSVP has closed, however, the usual routine of the day is:
Registration: Check-in of graduands. Only graduands are to be present at the registration area.
Guest Registration: If guests are permitted to attend they will also have to register when they arrive. This will be detailed in your ceremony reminder email closer to the graduation date.
Gowning: After you have registered, you will proceed to the academic robing area.
Cloakroom: All graduands are required to leave any belongings in the cloakroom. To prevent accidents while students walk up to the stage, only mobile phones are allowed to be held during the ceremony.
Briefing: After registration has closed, all graduands are required to go to the main room where important information about the ceremony will be provided.
Ceremony: The ceremony will be approximately two (2) hours. As a sign of respect to other graduands, academics, speakers, and sponsors we require all attendees to stay until the end of the ceremony.
Photography: A professional photographer will be available on the day. A digital photo of you on stage is included in your graduation fee. You will be able to purchase further photography packages from them if you wish to. If you want to take pictures outside the venue, you will need to return your academic dress first.
As this is a formal event, we suggest you wear smart casual attire that allows you to be comfortable the whole day with the academic regalia on top.
Please note that the graduation venue has varied surfaces and there are a number of ramps and stairs to negotiate during the ceremony, so please wear appropriate footwear. No thongs allowed.
No. If you want to leave the venue please return the academic regalia you have rented for the day.
The academic regalia is the academic dress you will wear to receive your award on your graduation ceremony. The robe is called gown and the hat is called mortarboard, the hood and stoles are to distinguish your faculty and degree.

Graduates are welcome to wear cultural attire that represents their cultural traditions and beliefs. Make sure you wear the academic regalia as well.
We encourage any Aboriginal or/and Torres Strait Islander graduate to wear the stole we have available with any of these 2 origins.
Graduating in Absentia means that you are a Higher Education (HE) student and your degree will be conferred at the academic board OR graduation ceremony but you will not be attending in person.
Only Higher Education (HE) students who have been approved as Graduands.
This option is not available for Vocational (VET) students as their awards do not need to be conferred.
NO. Your degree needs to be conferred at the academic board. The testamur and academic transcripts will be posted to the postal address you have registered in the Student Portal within 30 calendar days after the ceremony.
