When on campus...

  • You must carry your student ID card at all times.
  • Do not use frayed or broken chargers for your mobile devices or laptops - chargers are available in the Library to borrow.
  • No bare feet - unless required as part of a practical class.
  • No smoking near the buildings. Dispose of any cigarette butts safely.
  • Respect our neighbours, both business and residential
  • Respect your fellow students and staff - they are your current and future professional colleagues.

Locker hire

Lockers are available for hire on campus. All money from locker hire goes to your SRC.

Getting to campus

The campus is readily accessible by car, but we encourage you to travel by bike or public transport.

Driving to campus

Driving is not recommended as a means of transport unless you have no other option. Besides the parking issues, we try to be as green and environmentally aware as we can here at Fitzroy Campus as a reflection of our holistic approach.

On-street parking

Two-hour free parking is available outside the building. However, much of Victoria Street parking is reserved for local residents.

Parking inspectors are very vigilant in this area and you will more than likely be fined if you park for longer than the allowed time.  

Commercial parking

All-day parking is available at Melbourne Museum on Nicholson Street. Check the Museum site for rates.

Coles Supermarket on Johnston Street(entry via Argyle Street) - This car park is operated by Carepark.Please
contact them for current parking rates and operating hours.

75 Rose Street - operated by Greenco Parking, this car park offers reasonable hourly and daily rates.

Public transport

Check PTV for train, tram and bus timetables, or to download public transport apps.YarraTrams also has timely tram info.

Public transport concession is available for full-time students. Download the concession application from the PTV site.

Train Parliament Station is a 15-minute walk or short tram ride away.
Tram

Route 11 - West Preston - Victoria Harbour Docklands, via Brunswick Street Fitzroy.
Get off at stop 15 St David Street/Bell Street or stop 16 Johnston Street.

Route 96 - East Brunswick - St Kilda Beach, via Nicholson Street.
Get off at stop 15 - Johnston Street/Elgin Street.

Bus Route 200 (City Queen St -Bulleen) and 207 (City -Doncaster Shoppingtown) travel along Johnston Street, one street back from Victoria Street. Get off at Brunswick Street stop.

Biking

Bike racks are available for those people that wish to cycle to the campus. Remember to bring your own bike lock. More information and to plan your bicycle journey.
There are hundreds of bike paths throughout Victoria. More information on bike paths and rail trails can be found at bikepaths.com.au or railtrails.org.au

 

Student Services

Student Services is located on Level 1, Building 25, and are open from 8am to 6.30pm,Monday to Thursday,and 8am to 4.30pm onFriday during the study period.

Drop in and see us, or call 03 9415 3333 if you have any questions.

They will be able to answer any questions you may have about the campus and surrounds.

Wi-Fi and computers

Wi-fiinternet is available on campus. Search for Think Wireless - the password is thinkb81

There are also PCs for students to use in the Student Services Lounge and the Library.

Please contact Student Services or the Library if you have any issues with connecting to Wi-Fi.

Think Wellbeing Centre at Fitzroy​

Our clinic is located at 45 Victoria Street, Fitzroy.

All Think Education students are eligible for discounted treatments and dispensed remedies We offer relaxation and remedial massage, Clinical Myotherapy, Chinese Medicine, and acupuncture, Naturopathy and Nutritional Medicine services.

Safety information

Safety on campus

Like most inner city areas, Fitzroy presents a range of challenges so we recommend the following approaches:

  • Avoid being on Campus alone at night
  • Travel with a colleague or in a group
  • Be alert and aware of your surroundings
  • Avoid dark, vacant or deserted areas; use well-lit, well-travelled routes
  • If your car is in the car park and you know you will be leaving after dark, try move your car to a safer place earlier in the day

If you sense you are in trouble:

  • Move away from the potential threat if possible
  • Join any group of people nearby; cross the street and increase your pace
  • If a threatening situation is imminent yell, scream or make a commotion in any way you can to get their attention
  • Go to an open business
  • Call the Police on 000 from a safe location
  • Make sure you let your manager know if an incident happens. We work closely with, and under the guidance of, the local police to try and ensure we take all reasonable steps to reduce risk and promote safety.

First Aid

There are first aid kits in every building on campus. Look for the green cross first aid signs.

We also have a number of staff on campus who are trained in first aid. If you come across an incident requiring first aid, please contact your nearest staff member.

Emergencies

In an emergency evacuation, don’t panic! Emergency and evacuation posters are on display in every building.

At all times during an emergency follow the instructions of the Building and Area Wardens.
If the evacuation alarm sounds, or if instructed to do so by a Warden, leave the building by the nearest and safest exit route.
If possible take hand held personal belongings (such as handbags and briefcases) with you when you leave. Do not return to collect belongings.
Walk quickly and calmly to the designated assembly area for your building or as advised by a Warden or Fire and Emergency Services personnel.

What is a hazard?

A hazard is anything in the workplace that has thepotential to harmpeople.Hazards can include objects in the workplace, such asmachinery,dangerous chemicals or liquidspillage.

If you see a hazardplease remove it if safe to do so or contact campus staff to attend to the hazard.

Reporting an incident

Anincidentisany situation that unexpectedly arisesin the workplace which has the potential to cause injury, damage or harm. Anaccidentis actually an incident that resulted in someone being injured or damage being done to property.

If there is an incident or accidenton campus, please report it to campus staff immediately.

Footwear on campus

Please remember that for WH&S purposes:

  • Bare feet arenot acceptableunder any circumstances. The only exception is if it isrequired as part of teaching andauthorisedby your lecturer.
  • If you see any someone not wearing shoes, please introduce yourself nd ask them to put their shoes back on
  • Anyone who do not have shoes with themmay be sent home.
  • Open toed shoes arenotpermitted in the clinic, in the herbal manufacturing lab (T3) where there are knives and hot substances, or in any space where needling takes place (M5). Students will not be permitted to take part in the class if they are not wearing appropriate footwear.
  • In all other areas, open toed shoes are permitted but not recommended.
