Are you a Billy Blue or Media Design School student?

We're challenging you to shift your perspective on the world around you in an innovative way. Re-think how you see the world by capturing something from a new perspective. 

The brief

Using equipment hired (for free) from the Design Technology Store on campus (the MDS AV Hub on the Auckland campus), or using your own, we challenge you to shift your perspective on the world around you in an innovative way. Re-think how you see the world by capturing something from a new perspective. Clichéd images should be avoided. Digital manipulation in post is permitted, but to only enhance the authenticity of the moment captured. Details on applicable adjustments see below under the heading Digital Manipulation*.

Open to all students at Billy Blue College of Design, Torrens University Australia and Media Design School, you will need to sign up to Frontier to participate and submit. All entries will be shown in the gallery below and later judged for prize-winning submissions. See prizes below. Judges will be selected from each campus to ensure fairness. It's also your login to be able to use the Student App, as well as being necessary for the WiFi and printing services if you visit us on Campus.

We’re excited to offer you online workshops to help develop essential study skills. These include time management, critical thinking, referencing and much more.

PASS is a free program that offers structured and fun group learning sessions for some of the courses that students find to be more challenging. Participating in PASS helps you:

How do I get involved?

DEVELOPMENTAL ACADEMIC SKILLS AFTER-HOURS

At Torrens University Australia, we are excited to offer you after hours developmental academic skills workshops to help you succeed in Trimester 3 and beyond. You will learn about all the features of academic writing including understanding what assignment tasks are asking you to do, how to structure an academic assignment, how to write in a formal and academic manner,how to link ideas in a logical way and state your thesis (main position) clearly.

In these workshops, you can also develop and enhance skills essential to academic study such as time management, critical thinking skills, referencing and academic integrity. You will take a step-by-step approach to improving your academic writing skills in a relaxed and friendly online environment. There will be opportunities for writing practice and individual guidance on developing the academic writing skills you need for your assignments.

The workshops are free and open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Please note that you do not need to register for the workshops. Please view the schedule below and choose the workshops that would work for you.

Software skills workshops, T3 2019 [Weeks 1-12]

Having trouble using Adobe Software? Don't know your InDesign from your Photoshop?

Join us for design software workshops, facilitated by one of our design lecturers.

• Our 1:1 sessions are aimed at providing students with help on using the Adobe programs.
• Group sessions are aimed at completing set activities using the Adobe programs.

You will receive assistance with developing or up-skilling existing skills in a range of software.

• Make sure you have the latest version of the Adobe Creative Suite installed on your computer.
• Please arrive 15 minutes early so we can start on time.

Software covered: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign,Dreamweaver, Premiere and After Effects.

Need help getting started?

Online learning is different to learning in a classroom, so its important you know the difference between all of the online platforms you will use throughout your studies. Student ID card

Did you know that as an online student you can still request a Student ID card, and depending on which state you're located in and whether or not you are studying full-time, you may be entitled to various student concessions? Visit a campus

Just because your studying online, doesn't mean you can't visit us on campus. Check where your closest campus is located and pop in to use the Library, register to attend workshops, arrange to meet with your classmates or teachers, ask your Success Coach for help with job interviews or finding placements, or just find a comfy space to study. We get excited when our online students visit!

We host Virtual Orientation sessions for our online students each trimester.

Did you know that online students are welcome to use any of our campuses? Computer requirements

All students are expected to have access to a computer with:

• a set of standard software packages
• internet connectivity

You will need a computer for:

• assessments,
• using the library catalogue,
• online resources,
• accessing the learning portal and your student portal.

If you don't have a computer - think about how you'll get access to one for your study.
