Your Campus

Pyrmont Campus is open!

The campus is open for classes, access to computers, self-study spaces and Student Services support. 

Appropriate measures have been taken to ensure your safety on campus. We ask that you check in and follow the guidelines in place for your well-being and the well-being of others.

International Student Advisor Drop In Sessions

We are excited to offer our new International Students online drop in sessions to meet your International Student Advisors, along with other new students and to help keep you connected.

If you have any questions on overseas health cover, accommodation, Covid-19 welfare, student visa study requirements and anything that you are struggling with on your transition to Australia or University, please attend.

Wellbeing - Virtual Guided Meditation Sessions

Tune in for our daily virtual meditation session with our counsellors from across the nation. Take this time to introduce a little peace and calmness in your busy schedule to feel rejuvenated for the day ahead.

Pyrmont campus - News and Information

 

The Pyrmont Campus has transformed the Quiet Study Room (room 5.10) into a Meditation Zen Den

We have had incredible feedback from staff and students and your voices have been heard. 

5.10 is now a dedicated space for students to meditate, have some quiet time, study or just zen out complete with meditation music, aromatherapy, yoga mats, rugs, cushions and soft lighting.

The Practice Wellbeing Centre Pyrmont - Torrens University

Your Health and Wellness clinics are back!  
The Practice Wellbeing clinic @ Pyrmont campus is open for clinic consultations.

It's time to focus on your health and wellness by booking an appointment with our student practitioners of Nutrition, Naturopathy, and Western Herbal Medicine. All sessions are supervised by qualified and experienced practitioners.

You can visit The Practice Wellbeing Centre @ the Pyrmont Campus for face-to-face consultations or book a Telehealth consultation from the comfort of your own home.

Apply for international student COVID-19 crisis accommodation

The NSW Government is funding up to 20 weeks’ accommodation for vulnerable international students in NSW during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

The scheme will be delivered through approved student accommodation and homestay providers. Service NSW is administering the application process and will allocate the accommodation. 

All international student applicants for the temporary accommodation scheme require a letter of support from their education provider. 

We, as a University have been asked to complete a letter of support for our students. If you need this supporting letter, please forward a request to intstudentadvisor@laureate.edu.au and we will complete for you after checking that you qualify.

You will need a computer to:

  • access digital learning resources
  • access video and audio recordings
  • submit and complete online assessments
  • participate in classroom discussion and collaboration via online communication and collaboration tools.

Web browser The recommended web browser to access Blackboard (your Learning Portal) is Firefox, in addition some audio PowerPoints will require Google Chrome.
Software

Office software to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Office 365 is available as a free download as part of your student account.

There may also be software required for your specific course. Your Learning Facilitator will advise you of this when you start studying.

How to print on campus

1. Log in to thinkprint - http://thinkprint

  • Use your student ID and My Account password

2. Top up your account if required

  • Click the 'Top Up by Credit Card' tab
  • Enter amount and your credit card details and click 'Pay Now"
  • Your account will be immediately credited - no refunds are available

3. Upload your documents

  • Click on the 'Web Print' tab and click 'Submit Job'
  • Select the printer name
  • Click the button '2. Print Options and Account Settings' and select number of copies.
  • Click 'Upload from Computer' or drag your files in to the gray box - you can only upload file types: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PSF and XPS
  • Click 'Upload & Complete'
  • Your file will then be sent to the printer queue. Log out of Papercut.

4. Release your print job

  • Log in to the printer by swiping your student ID card on the printer's card device (if you don't have your student ID card handy you can enter your details manually)
  • The machine will give you the option to print, copy or scan. Select 'Print'
  • Select your print job in the list using the touch screen
  • Press 'Print' and you're done!
  • The cost of your print job will be displayed when the job is selected

Student Safety

To ensure you stay safe on and off campus we recommend you take the following precautions:

  • Avoid being on campus or travelling alone at night
  • Be alert and aware of your surroundings
  • Avoid dark, vacant and deserted areas
  • If an incident does occur please let a member of staff know so we can support you and work alongside local police to minimise risk and promote safety


Security on campus

  • Wear your student ID card at all times
  • Never leave your belongings unattended
  • Do not bring unnecessary valuable to campus
  • Report suspicious behaviour or anything you feel may be unsafe
  • Report all injuries and incident to Student Services and complete an incident report form
  • If you need assistance or to report any medical conditions, please see Student Services (eg. insulin, asthma inhaler, medication)

The designated assembly area for Think Education Pyrmont Campus is on the Pyrmont Street end of Camden Lane.

Finding accommodation near campus

There is a range of housing options available near the Pyrmont campus. Options include student apartments (see Urbannest or UniLodge) and private rentals (see www.realestate.com.au or www.domain.com.au). For international students we are also registered with the Australian Homestay Network (AHN).


Tips for finding accommodation

  • Don’t rely on photos on a website, make sure you visit the accommodation
  • Avoid paying a deposit on a place you have never seen
  • Never give out personal details to someone you’ve never met in exchange for more information about a property
  • Be aware of your rights as a tenant and get advice from the proper channels
