Let's start the tour with a visit to the Central Market - With over 70 traders under one roof, the Adelaide Central Market is one of the largest undercover fresh produce markets in the Southern Hemisphere, buzzing with life and colour all year round.

Then learn about the different transport options (Tram, Bus and Train) available in Adelaide – King William Street all while discover the ‘city square mile’ of Adelaide. Take in Rundle Mall with its global brand and local favourite shopping options along the way.

We walk past the famous 'Hindley Street' while being educated on safety, emergency procedure 000 for - Fire, Ambulance and Police. Discover the new Royal Adelaide Hospital while learning about the different medical services available in Adelaide.

Then to a few sights including Elder Park to see the Popeye, Casino and Adelaide Oval. Walk past the South Australia Museum, Art Gallery, Botanic Gardens and Adelaide Zoo. Then finally heading back to campus through the heart of the City!

What to bring: comfortable walking shoes, water bottle, hat, sunscreen and money in case you would like to purchase anything along the way.

This major festival celebrates multiculturalism through digital animations, illuminated art installations, multicultural performances, food, meditation, traditional Buddhist ceremonies and children's activities. For its 26th anniversary the theme of wisdom and innovation is explored through a variety of digital animations and art installations.

New for this year's festival, the sky-high Bodhi Tree mural, painted by renowned street artist Makatron, will be digitally animated each evening from 6.30pm onwards. It provides the illusion of the tree experiencing a range of weather elements, symbolically representing the hardships and challenges the Prince experienced while in his meditative state to reach enlightenment and become Buddha.

Nearby, see your wish or message of hope displayed alongside thousands of others from around the globe on the Bodhi tree.

It was wonderful to see so many students in Adelaide brave a cold morning for our recent Day Trip. We all had an incredible time touring some of our beautiful city’s major tourist destinations with most of our students experiencing them for the first time.

Our first stop was Hahndorf, a quaint old German village nestled snugly in the Adelaide Hills, where we were able to stretch our legs and walk along the cobbled streets eating pretzels and donuts. Students were able to walk together and get to know one another and start to form some great new friendships.

We all packed back in the bus and headed for the coast to the little town of Goolwa, right at the heart of the Murray River. Here we wandered along the shore visiting craft shops, a chocolatier and even a gin distillery.

Our main stop for the day was the beachside town of Victor Harbor, on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula. We were treated to a tasty pub lunch and then spent some time exploring Granite Island, the Whalers Discovery Museum and some of the local art galleries.

With everyone in a festive and convivial mood, it was time for a sing a long on the bus trip back to Uni. Our local SRC spent lots of time talking and engaging with the students and welcoming them to Torrens. It was a great opportunity to discuss some of the plans we have for the year and to better understand the needs of our fellow students.

There was a wonderful sense of fellowship and community in our Day Trip. The way all students came together and engaged with one another was truly beautiful. It’s exactly what we value at Torrens and this is why we love what we do.

Brisbane students enjoyed a guided trip around Moreton Island to see the beauty of the island. Students then got the opportunity to go snorkelling and swimming in the beautiful waters surrounding the island. Highlights of the day included meeting students across a range of different courses and going snorkelling.

Our day trip to Mornington Peninsula was wonderful. Starting from Melbourne’s iconic Flinders Street Station (which we’re lucky to be close to our campus), our first lookout point gave us seriously splendid views of the city - despite being almost two hours away! Quite mind-blowing.

Arthur’s Seat was one of our favourite spots, where we spent good times with a good ol’ coffee break. We were a little envious of the gondola rides we saw there – but next time! We then hiked to Cape Schanck – a very lively place to visit. We became a little tired but rejuvenated ourselves with lunch.

The Mornington Peninsula Hot Springs was our final and long-awaited destination, where we revelled in almost 2.5 hours of pure relaxation. Sorely needed; we all wish we had more time here!

Everyone enjoyed and many students are already asking for a similar trip in T2; can’t wait for the next one!

Sydney students enjoyed a day trip to the Illawarra region, starting the day with a short visit to Symbio Zoo and a visit to Bald Hill look out. Everyone had a great time taking looking at the view and fighting against the wind to take some amazing photos.

On the way to lunch, students got to enjoy the views from the bus as they took a trip over the famous Sea Cliff Bridge. Kiama blowhole was a hit among students, who enjoyed many laughs together while exploring and getting splashed by the water.

The last stop of the day was a visit to Wollongong lighthouse before departing back to Sydney. It was a jam-packed day that was enjoyed by all students, as students from all campuses and degrees got to meet and create amazing memories together.
