If you are an indigenous student at Torrens University, or are interested in becoming a student, and would like some advice, help, or support, or would like to talk about the scholarships open to you as an indigenous student, please book an appointment with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liason, Rochelle Morris, to have a chat. Our liaison is there to support you and make sure that you feel welcome and culturally connected at this University.

Our Scholarships

Education Costs Scholarship 

The 2022 Torrens University and Think Education Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Costs Scholarship seeks to support general costs associated with the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples studying at Torrens.

Commencement Scholarship

The 2022 Torrens University and Think Education Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commencement Scholarship seeks to assist with start-up costs for studies.

Tuition Scholarship

The 2022 Torrens University and Think Education Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tuition Scholarship seeks to assist with a 50% reduction of tuition costs for selected courses undertaken in Business & Hospitality, Design or Health & Education.

How to Apply

To be eligable, you must:
  • Identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Be enrolled as a full-time student or full – time equivalent at Torrens University Australia.
  • Demonstrate financial hardship.
  • Be able to maintain satisfactory academic performance.
  • Not be receiving any other similar financial scholarship support, such as a student start-up loan, a relocation scholarship, a residential costs option, or any of the other Torrens University tuition/fee scholarships
Key Dates
  • Submission deadline is 1 week prior to the start of your trimester/term or intake.
  • Students will be notified of their scholarship outcome after census date of your trimester/term or intake.
  • Students will receive funds (post - census date) and depending on processing times.
  • Late applications will not be accepted.

Please be aware that we have limited scholarships available, it is important to provide all required documents to ensure smooth processing of your application otherwise it will be deemed incomplete.

Assessment Process
  • Application submitted – with all required supporting documents.
  • Application assessed – start of trimester/term or intake
  • Outcome/notification – students are notified post census of outcome
  • Payment processed – post census date and based on processing times.

Complete the application form below. In the form, it will require that you provide supporting documents of the following:

  • Students must provide a personal statement outlining how the scholarship will support their studies and their involvement in community. Students must include as much information as they can so that we can assess equally against other applications.
  • Students will also need to provide a confirmation of Aboriginality. We understand there maybe complexities around providing this document and we accept a statutory declaration to support your application.
